Rare Antique Chicken Goggles-Weird Stuff |

In the early farm days, chickens were allowed to range free during the day and would be penned up in a chicken shelter at night. If the sun would shine in their eyes, other chickens would see the glare and pick their eyes out. So, these goggles were placed over the beak of the chickens, just in front of the eyes, and were held in position by a pin into the beak to prevent this picking. The chickens would live and lay eggs for a number of years. After the chickens died, the goggles were removed and placed onto another chicken. In later years, chickens were debeaked and these goggles were no longer used.
